There are some that feel that blogs are getting old and are no longer relevant, but there are many others that still believe in the medium, which is evidenced by the amount of blogs that are started everyday. As with many other technologies, once it establishes itself, people look for ways that they can make money off it. There are many out there that make passive income through their blogs, and there is no reason why someone else cannot get in there and take their share.

It is important that you find out the different methods of making an income, as well as the amount of work that is required for each. One thing to keep in mind is that the more effort required on your part, likely the more that you will get paid. The less you have to do, the less you will tend to make. But add all the little bits and pieces together, and it can amount to a significant amount.

Advertising – A method of earning income on your blog is by renting out advertising space. Depending on how much money you want to make through this method, you will need traffic. If you do not have a lot of visitors to your site, you will not get a lot of money for ad space that you try to sell.

Affiliates – You can sign up for different affiliate sites and then promote them on your website. You will want to make sure that any affiliate that is on your site compliments whatever your theme is, or else people may not develop the trust in you that you need them to have.

Pay per click
– Another method of advertising is getting setup with programs that pay you when someone clicks on a link, and makes a purchase. You get paid pennies when they click, but then if they make a purchase, you likely will make more. Depending on if those sites have cookies or not, you could make money on purchases that are made after that original visit as well.

Products – If you have a product that you are selling, you can make passive income through it, as you only need to create it once and then you can sell it multiple times.

Archive – One of the great things about blogging is that the old blog posts stay in the archives, and are indexed by the search engines. So someone may find your post a year later, and click on whatever you referenced in the post, and you earn money as a result.

Current – While the content itself does not make you money, it is important that you keep your blog current and relevant. If you do not post anything for a few months, people may not trust your site and move elsewhere to make their purchase. Even a few posts a month is enough to keep your blog current.

These are just a few ideas of what you can do to start an internet business and your blog. Chances are you can find something else that will work well for what your niche is all about.
