How To Make A Website Into A Profile In Courage

When you’re thinking about how to make a website, typical concerns include questioning how the website will display in different circumstances. Will it show up on Firefox as well as on Internet Explorer? What will it look like on a smartphone? And how fast will it load for those without broadband connections? Thanks to the spread of broadband access, that last concern is starting to lose its urgency. But the continued use of dial-up access does give you pause to think!
High speed Internet access is proliferating, well, at high speed. And it’s doing so seemingly everywhere. From South Korea’s ranking as the country with the fastest Internet to recently announced plans from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to provide broadband Internet access to 9 out 10 Americans by 2020, high speed Internet access has pretty much lost its status as an expensive luxury and is on its way to becoming an entitlement.
This has a number of implications for the affiliate home business. It means you can add video and other elements to your marketing messages and web pages with confidence, knowing that a growing number of your potential customers can view them easily. It also means that your pool of potential customers may be growing. After all, it would seem safe to say that more people with broadband access means more people who may buy something from you. You may be able to think of other advantages the spread of broadband brings.
But there are other ways to look at this, as well. My attention was really captured by this article describing a woman in the American Midwest who still has dial-up access at home. That is not that unusual in many parts of the U.S. What is unusual about her situation is that she is also a webmaster.
Her situation is mitigated somewhat by the fact that she does have broadband access at work. But, like most webmasters, she has often has to work on maintaining and updating her employer’s website outside of normal working hours.
So she puts up with waiting, and waiting, and waiting for pages to load through her dial-up connection so she can work on them.
This woman’s dedication and determination are really impressive. A lot of people would concentrate on making excuses when faced with a challenge like this. They would tell themselves that the circumstances are just too difficult, or that the money just isn’t worth it. This is a very human reaction, and it’s something we’ve all done from time to time.
Fortunately for the home Internet business, cheap web hosting, the keyword search tool, design templates, affiliate marketing programs, and more make for an easy and convenient experience when starting a business. But some challenges remain.
Reading this article made me ask myself about what mountains I’m choosing not to climb. What opportunities to achieve my personal and business goals am I missing because the circumstances are just “too difficult” or the challenges are just “too great”?
And what about you? What personal or business goals are you not moving towards because of challenges or obstructions? Whatever they are, chances are good that if you decide to spend some time looking for solutions or work-arounds rather than telling yourself something is “impossible”, you’ll get more of what you want.
From now on, I’m telling myself, if a webmaster in Oklahoma can function with a dial-up connection, I shouldn’t let anything stop me, either!
